RETHINK BOTTLED WATER

Nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled, instead taking thousands of years to decompose. Buy a reusable container and fill it with tap water, a great choice for the environment, your wallet, and possibly your health. The EPA's standards for tap water are more stringent than the FDA's standards for bottled water.

No to mining in Palawan | Save Palawan | Stop Mining | Sign the Petition

Hi there, I just signed the online petition to save Palawan’s forests from mining and thought you might want to sign as well.
You can sign it here: http://no2mininginpalawan.com
National Geographic named Palawan as one of its top-20 destinations for 2011. It has 17 Key Biodiversity Areas and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites that are at risk from mining.
If we don’t do anything, the future for Palawan’s indigenous people and rare endemic species is bleak. Please sign the petition, then forward this email to some friends and ask them to do the same. We know the strength of People Power, now it’s time for Palawan Power!
Thanks!

GO VEGETARIAN ONCE A WEEK One less meat-based meal a week helps the planet and your diet. How?

For example:

It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. You will also also save some trees.
For each hamburger that originated from animals raised on rainforest land, approximately 55 square feet of forest have been destroyed.

GREENASUIM

I saw an article in a magazine.. they featured a gym called "greenasuim" wherein the gym bicycle is the main source of power that runs the whole gym.. but this was in California :) Nice idea .. being physically fit and helping save the environment all at the same time :D

Front Group

Today at my PR (Public Relations) class, I have learned about "Front Groups/organization". A front group is basically a group that act independent but in reality a third party group is funding them. The main purpose is to shield a parent group, they appear to be advocating something but large companies are their main sponsors.
One example is the GCC or Global Climate Coalition, an oraganization which claims that carbon dioxide is good for it increases crop productions which can feed up hunger. But as what I said, this is a front group because prominent members includes:
  • The Aluminum Association
  • American Highway Users Alliance
  • British Petroleum
  • DaimlerChrysler
  • Exxon / Esso
  • Ford Motor Company
  • General Motors Corporation
  • Shell Oil USA
These are companies who will benefit from GCC. Their business as oil producers will continue for GCC promotes mandatory cuts in gas emissions!
Fortunately, GCC has closed. GCC has the wrong cause, so disappointing that PR practitioners will try to do anything for money .. geez! let's be careful of who we support, they might mislead us to something bad. :P bye!

Our Cause

A variety of environmental problems now affect our entire world. As globalization continues and the earth's natural processes transform local problems into international issues, few societies are being left untouched by major environmental problems.

Since the internet is very powerful today because it reaches a wide amount of audience in different age groups, we came up with the idea of helping save the environment by the use of social networking sites.
